It may be April but there’s no reason for you to be a fool! Your very own Science Council is proud to present Science Month!!! Get ready for a non-stop, high-octane scientific spectacle all throughout the next month!
Build up your excitement for HOSA and MEC’s collaborative biomedical engineering event and a Zoom panel meeting with professional engineers in Engineering Week!
Following it up with an out-of-the-world experience in Space Week. Get ready for a demonstration of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity and two consecutive days of a Digital Star Lab, a large inflatable planetarium.
Peaking at our third week we have Mackenzie’s second-ever Science Bowl! Gather up your friends into teams of four and compete with others in your grade in a science-themed round-robin competition!
Wrapping up the whole month, we’ll have our Serene Science Slow Down Week! Tune in to watch the movie Gravity and compete in a science song Kahoot!
All events will be at lunch unless otherwise specified.

Dodgeball intramurals are starting soon! We will be hosting a mandatory information meeting on Monday, October 17 in the main gym. You MUST attend this meeting if you wish to participate in dodgeball intramurals! Additionally, there will be a smaller, optional meeting this Friday in main gym to go over sign-ups and any outstanding questions.
Sign ups for dodgeball intramurals will CLOSE on Monday, October 17 at 11:59pm so we strongly advise you to put together a team as soon as possible. As one of the largest clubs at WLMAC with more than 150 members, MCPT has always been dedicated to furthering the knowledge of computer science, be it through competing in programming competitions, promoting software development projects through hackathons, or hosting mentorship sessions for ICS help. In a nutshell, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to break into CS.

We are excited to announce that the long-awaited STEM Awards Ceremony will be taking place on Wednesday, June 15 after school in the CAF!! All members of any science council club are encouraged to attend. We will be recognizing several outstanding members from MSC, HOSA, MEC, Biology Club, Physics Club, and Chemistry club and each award winner will receive a $15 gift card 👀 👀 There will be a Kahoot at the beginning of the ceremony, and the winner will win a $5 gift card! We've received a few questions on election guidelines, rules and where election resources can be found, so I'll try to address them all in a post here. An online dropbox has been created for the mandatory 30 student signatures (due May 13th); the link for that, along with the candidate form, teacher reference form, and info meeting slides can be found at the end of this post.
Next - a few FAQ's:

Only current Grade 9's may vote for the Junior Representative position.
All students, including graduating students, may vote for any position. The sole exception is the Junior Representative position, as listed above.
Teacher references must be from teachers currently teaching at Mackenzie.
Candidates for appointed positions also need 30 signatures from students supporting their candidacy.

Business Council prepares its 90+ members for national and international competitions from FBLA and Target Alpha.
