Sep. 14, 2023, 1:32 pm

Hey MAC,
The $85 Student Activity Fee is an essential contribution to Mackenzie life. This Fee provides the financial budget to support the running of ALL: Student Council initiatives, Club/Council initiatives, Athletic and Intramural initiatives and Mackenzie School Wide initiatives.
As per William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate’s 2023-2024 policy, if a student fails to pay their student activity fee, they will be denied the opportunity to participate in any of the above initiatives and will not be granted their student card.
The $85 Student Activity Fee is to be paid using School Cash Online .
Please see the Main Office or the Mackenzie administration, if there are any issues with the Student Activity Fee payment.

Attention citizens of Mackenzie! Coming soon is the Student Vote for the upcoming Provincial Election and guess whose opinion will be voiced? Yours!
Student Vote is an opportunity for youth, aka soon-to-be adults, to exercise their right to vote. Voting itself entails understanding where your responsibility is coming from, where it’s going, and why. Thus, to help you, on Thursday, May 12 after school from 4 to 5pm, there will be a virtual all-candidates panel to inform you about the various party platforms. Are you interested in seeing who has your best interests at heart? Come pop in to hear the initiatives and intent of the people for whom your vote can make a difference. Stay tuned for details!
In the meanwhile, you can also submit questions to be asked by the presenting candidates at the panel, as well as your rating on the issues the provincial government is charged with managing: healthcare, education, the environment, and the economy. https://forms.gle/EVhFfPaJZrHfkaVw8
The form will close on Monday at 11:59pm so get your responses in ASAP!

Clubs Resuming Virtually

Student Council, Justin Lu
Jan. 15, 2022, 4:27 pm

An update on the resumption of club activities on Monday, January 17th, 2022 from Mr. Quan, as of Saturday 15th at 4pm:
1) All Club and Council activities will switch to a virtual format for the time being. This includes all clubs and councils that declared as "in-person" at the beginning of the year. Google Meet and Zoom can be used as platforms to hold meetings - if you would like help setting this up, feel free to reach out to Mr. Quan or any member of Student Council. Also note that if you are planning to hold a meeting virtually, there can be no simultaneous physical congregating of members.
2) The continuation of any club and council activities is strictly up to the decision of the staff advisor. This return to in-person learning is another round of unprecedented uncertainty and its impact on teachers is individual and private. If staff advisors choose to put their club or council supervision duties on a pause, please respect this decision.

Hey MAC! Your communications reps have a couple of updates on upcoming opportunities/events in these coming weeks.
First of all, our SAP classes have been hard at work making surveys. If you have a couple of free minutes it would be greatly appreciated if you could fill them out. Check out the list of surveys Here
Secondly, On Thursday, November 4th from 9:30-10:30 am we will host a LIVE WEBCAST from the TDSB boardroom – an interview with Holocaust survivor and award-winning book author Max Eisen. This is taking place during the first day of Holocaust Education Week . Northern SS is the host of this event but they want to live webcast to other TDSB high schools. Max will be interviewed by four Northern SS students. Stay tuned for more updates on this awesome opportunity and how to participate!
Finally, the school is hosting yearbook pickups for any 2021 Mackenzie graduates on Wednesday, October 13th and Thursday October 14th from:
9:15 AM – 11:15 AM
12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
NOT DURING LUNCH
When they arrive to the front door they should call 416-395-3330 and dial 0 to have their yearbook brought to them. If they can't attend, they can send a parent/friend. There may be another date set up in november but nothing is confirmed yet.
It would be great if any current students can inform any grads of this pick up date, so they don't miss it.
That's all MAC! As usual if you any questions feel free to message us on instagram @wlmac.sac

Sep. 22, 2021, 2:11 pm

HEY MAC! SAC here with more updates for Grade 9 Day:
1.Grade 9 Day will run on Friday, Sep. 24
The weather is supposed to be nice, but it can get chilly - so make sure to dress accordly. All teachers were sent an email which includes the starting station and the class theme - we encourage all Grade 9's to dress up! (hint hint nudge nudge, there are extra points for the most spirited/dressed up class!) At the end of lunch please proceed to your Friday afternoon class for attendance. Your class will visit each station together in 10 minute rotations and we cannot mix cohorts, so please STAY WITH YOUR CLASS. We ask that you are at your start station at 12:30.
2. Grade 12 Volunteers
You will be excused from class starting at 9:30 am until 2:45 pm. Once you're excused proceed to the LIBRARY, so we can have a quick meeting before we start setting up. An email will be sent later today to ensure that everyone knows what they're doing. Please familiarize yourself with your activity prior to Friday, all of the supplies will be provided, and if you have any questions you can reach out to us on Instagram (@wlmac.sac )!
3. Virtual Grade 9 Day
Virtual grade 9s, don't worry we didn't forget about you! We prepared a special virtual grade 9 day which will run silmultaneously with the in-person one. A zoom link will be sent out to all grade 9 teachers to share with their virtual students. Attendance will be taken so make sure to join in. We planned exciting games, exclusive prizes and lots of SPIRIT!
