Gardening club at WLMCI was established in 2017. In its years of existence, it has worked on improving the school’s green life and communal spaces, with the addition of flower beds, and picnic tables.
We aim to teach students how to garden using sustainable means, and take care of a variety of plants. Providing students with a way to reconnect with nature, the club serves as a great place for relaxation and a good opportunity to earn volunteer hours through casual drop-ins.
We take pride in the creation of our many pollinator-friendly gardens, which not only add variety to the school grounds, but play a small part in our mission to create a safe habitat for them.
Our pollinator-friendly gardens fosters a safe space for many species from hummingbirds and bees to those approaching extinction, like monarchs. We also intend to create more flower beds, allowing us to continue introducing new pollinators to our gardens through expanding our plant variety. About 87.2% of our gardens consist of native plants. The school's courtyard serves as our nursery. Our garden has won 2nd place in the City of Toronto 2024 Garden Contest.

Meeting are on Tuesdays at lunch in LIB-A.
Our club consists of 50 members. We do welcome anyone interested in gardening to join us
