May Flowers

I saw love this morning
As I saw the May flowers
Peak from the earth the spring
Waters with its gentle rain showers

After the September you made March,
There were true days full of gold
But then gazes of cold

You and I came out of the winter
But lost is the “we”
Gone the talks
Forgotten the walks

It’s time, we both know,
Because like the leaves we all grow
No more love letters to send
But forever your friend,
I thank you for that
Which we had when we did.
You let me see
The world and me
Like I was alright.
It was sunlight.

I’m glad that it happened,
Just slightly saddened
With your final last words
That make me question my verse

Could it be the desperate protection
Of your pride that only affection,
You say, like that of siblings’ reflection
Was there, but not quite attraction?

For all that I know,
For all that I care,
I want you to grow
And I urge you to dare

As May flowers bloom,
I beg you, find room
To love someone “for real”
Because we live for the feel

Hold their hand like it’s new
And trust the bond like it’s old
As from this moment on you
Hath not warm up my cold

Still I request, just one final thing
Because with your brilliant mind
And sweet heart that’s loving,
You must at least try to find
It in you to trust
And believe
In the “us”
And the “me”
and the “you”

Wishing you joy and good times,
Because I’m unto mine’s.
With the math you taught me,
I just may perhaps see
One who’s end and beginning
I’d like to be
