Ramadan Mubarak! Today marks the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Muslims don’t eat or drink from sunrise to sunset to experience what it feels like to be hungry, and to focus on outer and inner self-control. Each evening, Muslims break their fast with a communal dinner called an iftar. During Ramadan, Muslims make every effort to recite the Qur’an, as well as perform extra prayers, engage in charity, and perform good deeds in order to reach a higher level of spirituality. Room 109 will be open every day during lunch as a quiet space for all students who are fasting for Ramadan.
